IMPORTANCE OF READING: Albuquerque Reads continues to build its tutor database

Albuquerque Reads is a classroom-based tutoring program that helps struggling kindergarten and first-grade readers boost their literacy achievement to enable lifelong learning. LITERACY IS THE KEY: Albuquerque Reads continues to make strides within community

Supporting Albuquerque Reads is as simple as picking up groceries – literally. The Chamber has more than 150 volunteer tutors in first-grade and kindergarten classes at Albuquerque Public Schools’ Atrisco, Bel-Air and Whittier elementaries. Tutors provide one-on-one reading instruction to more than 200 students for approximately 90 minutes each week, helping them reach grade-level reading
