HELPING THE COMMUNITIES: Molina Healthcare of New Mexico hosts supply drive, informs on Medicaid enrollment

Molina Healthcare set up a donation drive at its Downtown location on June 28. The company was taking donations for victims of the fire and flooding in Ruidoso and Las Vegas, New Mexico.

On June 28, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico hosted a supply drive for victims of recent New Mexico wildfires in and near Ruidoso and flooding caused by heavy rain in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Members of the public arrived at the Downtown office to participate in the drive by donating water, sports/electrolyte drinks, protein bars and snack items, non-perishable food items, baby formula, diapers and wipes, toiletries, feminine products, towels and blankets, socks and underwear, dog and cat food, hand sanitizer, games and cards, and mosquito repellant.

Molina matched donations received and supplemented the water donations to help families.

Martha Cardenas, of Molina’s MSRII Provider Claims Department, helped out at the drive. She said Molina employees were in Ruidoso and Las Vegas helping distribute water. In Las Vegas, Molina took five pallets of water to distribute to more than 1,000 people.

“There were lines all day,” Cardenas said. “It’s our own way of helping out with the devastation out there.”

Molina Healthcare of New Mexico has been providing government-funded, quality health care since 1998. The company serves members through Medicare and Health Insurance Marketplace programs throughout New Mexico.

Molina has been a Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce Leadership Circle member since 2012.

The donation drive was part of a “Meet Molina” day at Molina’s Downtown Albuquerque office. The event allows Medicaid-eligible individuals to learn more about Medicaid enrollment and Molina’s Medicaid coverage. Molina has a new Medicaid plan available in the state, and individuals have until September 30, 2024, to choose/change their health plan.

Attendees were able to get their questions answered about the health plan’s value-added services.
