On Oct. 21, the Albuquerque City Council passed a resolution honoring Sandia National Laboratories on its 75th anniversary in Albuquerque.
For over seven decades, Sandia National Laboratories has been a cornerstone of innovation, scientific advancement and national security in Albuquerque and the United States.
Terri Cole, President and CEO of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, said this week that “Sandia National Laboratories is a key member of our community and economy. Their work in national security and technology, as well as the tech-transfer space, is invaluable to our city, state and nation. We’ve been lucky to have their amazing workforce here for 75 years and look forward to many more!”
“Sandia National Laboratories has been instrumental in driving technological progress and ensuring our nation’s safety,” said City Council President and District 5 Councilor Dan Lewis. “We are proud to recognize their contributions to our community and their commitment to excellence.”
Since its founding in 1949, Sandia has played a crucial role in national security, developing technologies that have protected the nation. Additionally, the laboratory has expanded its research to include renewable energy, cybersecurity, and advanced materials, addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Sandia has also been a strong supporter of the Albuquerque community, investing in educational programs, fostering partnerships and creating jobs. The laboratory’s commitment has ensured that all voices are valued in the pursuit of scientific excellence.
Sandia has been a Chamber member since 1986.
