JUST IN TIME: Anderson Theater reopens at Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum on Oct. 4

The Anderson Theater will reopen its doors at the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.

Public programming will begin at 10 a.m. Renovations to the theater were funded through the generous support of the Anderson Family and the New Mexico Department of Tourism’s Destination Forward Grant.

“We couldn’t be more excited to reopen the Anderson Theater just in time to welcome Balloon Fiesta visitors from around the world,” said Balloon Museum Director Nan Masland. “This is such a special moment for us, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful supporters. Now guests can experience ballooning stories on the big screen in a whole new way.”

Opening day will feature the debut screening of “Above and Beyond: A Balloon Museum Story,” a new film by Sopapilla Productions. The Albuquerque-based production company, led by husband-and-wife duo Keith and Felicia Allen, focuses on highlighting and uplifting local businesses, artists, and creatives through film and media.

Additional programming will include:
• “Ballooning Around the World” – a film compilation by Ruedi and Priska Abbühl.
• “Wind Riders” – highlighting Albuquerque legends Richard Abruzzo and Carol Rymer Davis.
• “Love in the Clouds” – a heartwarming film about a couple who find love at Balloon Fiesta.

Visitors will enjoy major upgrades to the theater such as new seating, improved lighting, a modern projector, and enhanced sound.

Access to the Anderson Theater is first-come, first-served and is included with regular museum admission. For showtimes and details, visit cabq.gov/balloon.
