GRADES ARE IN: How Did Our Schools, Districts Perform Last Year?

It’s back to school across New Mexico – but just how well are our schools scoring?

Last spring, our partners at NewMexicoKidsCAN developed an interactive map that displays student proficiency rates by school and district, demographic enrollment data, and more. The map uses official data from state student assessments last school year, as made available by the Public Education Department.

To use the tool, search your school or district for easy-to-understand tables of student performance data in English language arts, early literacy, math, and science, broken down by demographic group. Or, click on the boundaries of a school district on the map to see the top-performing schools in each discipline, or click on individual schools displayed on the map.

Some notable top performers, right here in Albuquerque:

We expect the latest data from the 2022-2023 school year to become available this fall. Once that’s been publicly released, we’ll be sure to share the news.

Altura Preparatory School’s strong proficiency rates across the board show why the K-5 school is among the top five performing schools in New Mexico.
