BREAKING NEWS: Senate Finance Tables ‘Clear Horizons’ Greenhouse Emissions Bill

There’s good news today for business and families – Senate Bill 4, the so-called “Clear Horizons” bill, was tabled minutes ago in the Senate Finance Committee on a vote of 6-5.

SB 4 sought to put into law a goal of reducing greenhouse emissions by 100% from 2005 levels.

In essence, this would force electrification of transportation and result in severe negative impacts in all segments of industry, crippling our economy.

Should voluntary compliance fail to achieve the reduction levels, the Environmental Improvement Board would have been empowered to enact regulations.

We are very appreciative of those members of the committee who voted to table this very problematic bill.

Those who voted to table the bill are: Sens. Craig Brandt (R-Sandoval), Steve Lanier (R-San Juan), Nicole Tobiassen (R-Bernalillo), Pat Woods (R-Curry, Harding, Quay & Union), Benny Shendo (D-Bernalillo, McKinley, Rio Arriba, Sandoval & San Juan) and George Muñoz (D-Cibola, McKinley & San Juan).

More information will be provided in tonight’s Legislative RoundUp.
