On March 27. Rio Rancho Public Schools Superintendent Sue Cleveland wrapped up a 32-year stint in the position.
Cleveland led the district through its founding in 1994 and was the only superintendent RRPS has had. The district recently hired Robert Dodd as her replacement.
During its March 23 meeting, the RRPS Board of Education honored Cleveland with a resolution, which cited her “stable, student-centered leadership to Rio Rancho schools for more than three decades,” noting that she is the longest-serving superintendent in the state.
It also noted state and national recognition for academic achievement as well as athletic, fine-arts, career-technical, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Education is one of the Chamber’s Bold Issue Groups (BIG) and continues the fight for quality education for New Mexican children.
“Sue Cleveland’s 32 -year tenure leading the Rio Rancho Public Schools is a remarkable legacy of service. The business community has always known that strong schools are the foundation of a strong economy- and Sue understood that connection deeply. We congratulate her on a distinguished career and wish her a well-earned retirement,” said Paul Madrid, Chamber’s Education BIG chair.
