The Flag is Up … And … The Legislative Session is About to Start

The decorations are down. The new year’s party is over.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 20, the halls of the Roundhouse will come to life as the second session of the 57th Legislature gets underway.

It’s a short 30-day so-called “budget session” that is likely to see a lot more considered than just the budget. This is the governor’s last legislative session, and she’s got a lot of things on her agenda to complete before leaving office.

Moreover, there’s a flock of interested parties that want to secure whatever they’re after before the regime change occurs following the Nov. 2026 elections. Mad scramble? Yeah, very well could be.

And the best way to stay on top of the scramble is to take advantage of the Legislative RoundUp, the Chamber’s daily newsletter that summarizes what’s up in Santa Fe and how it affects our members and the business community at large. It’s free, it’s highly regarded and widely read. If you’re not already signed up to receive this gem of inside info and insightful commentary, please email Adrian Gomez at [email protected]. We’ll be happy to ensure that you get your daily dose of what’s up at the Roundhouse. Starting Jan. 19, we’ll bring you all the news and views from your state capitol, so tune in with us and follow all the action (we’re hoping no one spins out and slams into a wall, to complete the racing metaphor).

Until then, we’re making one final pit stop and signing off from Santa Fe for now.
