STRENGTHENING OUR SCHOOLS: New Mexico Oil and Gas Association continues to support NM education, hosts giveaway

As students, teachers, and staff across the state return to school for the 2025–2026 school year, the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA) is encouraging families and students to enter its annual Ultimate Backpack Giveaway here.

Through the event, five lucky New Mexico students in grades K-12 will receive a backpack that includes an iPad, a keyboard, school supplies, and a pizza party to celebrate with their class.

NMOGA has long been a proponent of supporting and strengthening the New Mexico school system, and we’re proud of the industry’s impact on N.M. students.

In 2024, the oil and gas industry provided $2.3 billion through tax revenue to support New Mexico public schools and championed many educational initiatives throughout the state.

According to NMOGA, oil and gas industry helps fund:

  • 386 public schools
  • 9,580 teachers
  • 130,508 students
