Today the House Health and Human Services Committee passed HB 11, which seeks to mandate a state-run paid family and medical leave program. The vote was 6-4, with all Democrats voting for, with all Republicans voting against. GACC President and CEO Terri Cole appeared before the committee expressing the Chamber’s strong opposition to the measure. Terri was joined by a large number of business organizations, including the Restaurant Association, the New Mexico Chamber and individual businesses who also opposed the bill. We’ll cover this hearing tonight in the RoundUp. The next stop for the bill is the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee. We’ll let you know when the bill is scheduled for that hearing.
