CELEBRATING A MILESTONE: Job Corps marks 60 years; Thousands of New Mexicans have been helped by program

On Aug. 19, Job Corps in Albuquerque celebrated its 60 years in helping young people achieve successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries.

The organization held its local celebration in Albuquerque at 1500 Indian School Road NW, with a ribbon cutting.

Organizers said Job Corps has helped thousands of New Mexicans get into the right career path within industries such as Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive and Machine Repair, Construction, Finance and Business, Health Care, Homeland Security, Hospitality,

Information Technology, Renewable Resources and Energy and Transportation.

Officials with Job Corps said students will learn the skills and resources to be successful in a career.

The organization also offers its students an opportunity to earn a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as engaging with a supportive community to access graduate resources and connections.

Job Corps has been a Chamber Connection member since March 1990.
