HAVING SOME BITE: Chamber kicks off program year with ‘Shakers & Stirrers’ event at ABQ BioPark Aquarium

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce kicked off program year 2024-25 on July 16 with a “Shakers & Stirrers” at the Shark Reef Cafe at the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden and Aquarium.

Sharks, stingrays and puffer fish, oh my!

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce kicked off the 2024-2025 program year with a bang.

On July 16, the GACC hosted its first Shakers & Stirrers networking event at the Shark Reef Cafe at the Albuquerque BioPark Botanic Garden and Aquarium.

Brandon Gibson, ABQ BioPark director, was on hand to greet guests and welcome them to the BioPark. He also provided an update on the many projects going on within the BioPark –including a new Australia exhibit at the ABQ BioPark Zoo.

As part of the event, the GACC recognized new investors, including:

  • ACTenviro, a hazardous waste management and disposal service. The company has been around for 20 years. It has 20 locations throughout the United States, including two in Albuquerque. Samuel Hartman attended to receive the honors
  • Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, which is celebrating 60 years of serving families in New Mexico. The Carrie Tingley Foundation serves as support for the Carrie Tingley Hospital by providing specialized equipment, research and facility upgrades, as well as its Patient and Family Assistance Program. Giancarlo Martinez was at the event for the foundation.
  • National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, which was established in 1969 and is the place visitors can learn about the Atomic Age. The museum offers permanent and changing exhibits that take a look at the impact of the Atomic Age. Jennifer Galloway was present at the event.

Shakers & Stirrers guests were able to network as well as take in sights including a tank full of wonderful sea creatures.
