Even as much of the normal economic and governmental activity in our state and city has been drastically changed due the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chamber has maintained its commitment to supporting the community in a variety of ways.
In addition to continuing to connect Chamber investors to governmental resources at the local, state, and federal levels and provide up-to-date information, the Chamber has also coordinated and executed donations of hundreds of vital N95 masks to local hospitals and thousands of books to Albuquerque Public Schools for distribution to students alongside meals.
As highlighted in an article in the Albuquerque Journal this week, the Chamber reached out to investors and collected and delivered 250 N95 respirator masks from B&D Industries and Southwest Abatement to local hospitals. In addition, Chamber Board and Leadership Circle investor Jaynes Corporation donated another 250 masks. These masks are a key part in keeping doctors and nurses treating COVID-19 patients safe, and help fill any gaps as national supply chains continue to experience strains.
The Chamber also provided well over a thousand books to Albuquerque Public Schools for distribution alongside meals to elementary school students. The books were donated by the Chamber’s Albuquerque Reads program, KPMG, and Intel. Helping Albuquerque’s kids read and learn during the shutdown of public schools will be key to keeping kids on track to return next school year.
