Tim Keller To Face Darren White in Run-Off Election on Dec. 9

Between early voting and Election Day, Albuquerque voters turned out to pick the next mayor.

Nearly a month ago, data showed that there would be a run-off election — and there will be.

Incumbent Tim Keller is vying for a third term in office and will be challenged by Darren White.

Keller received 36% of the votes, meanwhile White received 31%. Because neither candidate hit the 50% mark, a run-off election needs to be held.

Keller, a former state senator and state auditor, has served as Albuquerque’s mayor since December 2017. He easily won reelection in 2021 and is seeking to be the first person to serve three consecutive terms as mayor.

White previously served as Albuquerque’s chief public safety officer and was a GOP congressional candidate, as well as Bernalillo County Sheriff from 2002-2006.

The run-off election is set for Dec. 9.
