TAKING IT TO THE STREETS: Indigenous muralists featured in South Broadway Cultural Center’s ‘Walls of Resilience’

 

A new exhibition featuring large original paintings by seven Indigenous muralists opens at the South Broadway Cultural Center, 1025 Broadway Blvd. SE, with an artist reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3.

“Walls of Resilience: Indigenous Wisdom Confronting Planetary Crisis,” sees each participating artist claiming “Land Back” with their work in public spaces. They were chosen to represent the many Indigenous artists doing murals around New Mexico.

Featured artists include Jerry Brown, Mallery Quetawki, 3 sisters collective, Heck Ironcloud, Saba, Skindian Art and Deborah Jojola.

“Walls of Resilience: Indigenous Wisdom Confronting Planetary Crisis” is on view through May 24 at the South Broadway Cultural Center, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Both the artist reception and exhibition are open and free to the public.
