On Dec. 9, Visit Albuquerque hosted a webinar on the impact of the 2025 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in October.
Tania Armenta, Visit Albuquerque president and CEO, led the discussion.
Key points included:
- 2% increase in guest visits to 852,000
- 3% decrease in registered balloons to 537
- 5% decrease in daily non-stop seats at the Sunport due to Spirit Airlines’ bankruptcy.
- Hotel room nights sold increased by 1%, generating $28 million in revenue.
Balloon Fiesta officials said the weather was favorable, with only one event canceled.
They noted attendance was just below pre-pandemic 2019 numbers.
Efforts were made to strengthen the nine-day impact of the Balloon Fiesta and enhance midweek interest with events like the Paul McCartney concert at Isleta Amphitheater and the Globitos in the Village, which took place along Fourth Street in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.
Balloon Fiesta officials said the event faced challenges from the federal government shutdown and weather but overall saw growth in demand and positive visitor experiences.
“Congratulations to everyone who made this year’s Balloon Fiesta another outstanding success,” said Peter Lorenz, chairman of the Board of the Chamber. “As one of the most recognized events in the world, the Balloon Fiesta does more than fill our skies with color — it brands New Mexico on the global stage and showcases our state to visitors from every corner of the world.”
We can’t wait for next year’s Balloon Fiesta! The theme will be “The Scenic Route,” focusing on Historic Route 66, which will be commemorating the 100th anniversary!
