Public safety is not a partisan issue — it’s an economic and quality-of-life issue.

This is why the Chamber views public safety as one of its top three priority issues. On March 11, the Chamber awarded two Prosecutor of the Year Awards to Savannah Brandenburg-Koch and Rebekah Reyes.

Brandenburg-Koch is the deputy division leader over the Special Victims Unit and has dedicated her 10-year career to prosecuting crimes against children.

Reyes specializes in trauma-informed prosecution. For nearly 10 years, she approaches each case with acute awareness and meticulous preparation of the emotional and psychological impact on victims.

In her speech, Reyes implored the crowd to listen to the children who are brave enough to come forward to tell you about abuse.

The Chamber awarded a certificate, as well as a two-night stay at Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Collection in Santa Fe.

At the Chamber, we thank all of the prosecutors who are doing the work to ensure New Mexicans are safe.
