KEEPING BOOKS OPEN: City opens registration for free summer reading program

Readers of all ages are encouraged to join in the 2025 Summer Reading Program hosted by the Public Library of Albuquerque-Bernalillo County.

It is a free opportunity for the whole community to enjoy books and hands-on activities, and use their imaginations all summer long. Online registration opened May 9 at abqlibrary.org/summerreading. The program runs from May 31 to July 26.

According to city officials, this year’s theme, “Color Our World,” highlights the ways reading can brighten minds, encourage creativity and bring families closer together.

The Chamber congratulates the city on this literacy program. During each school year, the Chamber runs the Albuquerque Reads program at three Albuquerque Public Schools elementaries, with a focus on literacy and writing as well as take-home books for each student to build their very own home library.
