GIVING BACK: ABQ Reads volunteer Jimmy Bryant recognized for donating time at three schools

Albuquerque Reads volunteer Jimmy Bryant poses with Del Norte High School’s mascot during the Bel-Air Elementary School celebration. Bryant was recognized for volunteering at all three schools.

Albuquerque Reads relies heavily on its volunteers to keep the program moving forward.

During the program’s three end-of-year celebrations, volunteer Jimmy Bryant was recognized by the Chamber.

Bryant is a tutor at all three elementary schools — Atrisco, Bel-Air and Whittier.

He said he enjoys taking the time to tutor the kids in reading and writing.

“I’m having the time of my life,” he said. “It takes time and patience. Seeing the kids read by the end of the year makes it worth it.”

Bryant received a pass donated by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science Foundation.

The Chamber thanks Jimmy Bryant (and all our wonderful tutors!) for volunteering with ABQ Reads and giving the gift of literacy to so many APS students.
