A UNITED FRONT: Chamber signs on to letter of support for Congressional bipartisan permitting reform

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce has joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and chambers from across the country in signing a coalition letter in support of bipartisan permitting reform.

The letter of support is to change outdated and inefficient permitting processes that are delaying critical infrastructure projects, driving up costs, and postponing benefits like safer roads, better public transit, affordable energy and high-speed internet access.

According to the letter, the U.S. Chamber is rallying chambers and trade associations to sign on to a coalition letter urging Congress to pass comprehensive permitting reform this fall.

Modernizing permitting systems will empower communities and businesses to invest in infrastructure that grows the economy, creates good-paying jobs and improves quality of life. The coalition is united around four key principles:

  • Predictability: Clear timelines and scope for project reviews.
  • Efficiency: Improved interagency coordination to optimize resources.
  • Transparency: Accessible visibility into project milestones and schedules.
  • Stakeholder Input: Consistent opportunities for input from all relevant parties.

The Chamber lends its support to this cause because it directly affects economic development in New Mexico and across the country.
