A HEALTHY COMMUNITY: Lovelace breaks ground on new Urgent & Primary Care facility in Bernalillo

A rendering of Lovelace’s new urgent and primary care facility in Bernalillo set to be completed in December.

On June 12, Lovelace had a groundbreaking presentation for the new Lovelace Urgent & Primary Care in Bernalillo.

“We understand the limited access to primary care in New Mexico and are proud to open a location in Bernalillo to help alleviate this problem,” said Michael Kueker, incoming Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors member and Lovelace Medical Group CEO. “We think of urgent care as an extension of primary care, so coupling them together seemed like a natural fit. We already have three primary care physicians ready to move in to provide more access at that location when we open. This is the first of our hybrid locations in the market, but is likely not the last. Lovelace remains committed to providing access and high-quality care.”

According to Whitney Alcantar, communications manager, the facility, located at 554 Venada Plaza Drive in Bernalillo, will better serve patients in Rio Rancho and Bernalillo.

“This is an important milestone for Lovelace as we continue to create a better, more convenient health care experience for consumers,” Alcantar said. “Urgent care clinics fill an important need for individuals who need a quick, same-day appointment or have needs that don’t rise to the level of an emergency room visit.”

Lovelace is made up of five hospitals, 33 health care clinics and seven outpatient therapy clinics. Lovelace has 619 inpatient beds and employs a team of more than 3,500, including over 311 health care providers. Construction on the new facility is expected to be completed in December.

Lovelace has been a Chamber member since 1996.
