A new year is days away and it’s time to celebrate. There will be events across New Mexico where you can ring in the start of 2026. Nob Hill Chile Drop Presented by Nob Hill Main Street, the event runs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Hotel Zazz, 3711 Central Ave NE.
Noon Year’s at Explora! Can’t make it until midnight? Then Explora! has the event for you. At noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum there will be over 2,000 balloons dropping to ring in the new year. Admission starts at $7. Explora is located at 1701 Mountain Road NE.
New Year’s Before Dark The Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum, 9201 Balloon Museum Drive NE, is participating in the nationwide museum event New Year’s Before Dark. It will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and have family fun events. The event is free to attend, and more information can be found at balloonmuseum.com.
New Year’s with the Opera! New Year’s with the Opera is a fun variety show featuring Opera Southwest’s favorite performers. Accompanying our singers are the Opera Southwest Orchestra, the New Mexico Symphonic Chorus, and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony. With a variety of opera favorites and light classics, there is something for everyone to ring in the New Year. New Year’s Eve on the Plaza In Santa Fe, the Zia symbol will rise over La Fonda on the Plaza at the stroke of midnight. The free event begins at 8 p.m. and runs until 12:30 a.m. Eventgoers can enjoy live music, biscochitos, hot chocolate and more. Las Cruces Chile Drop Las Cruces will host its traditional chile drop from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 100 N. Main St., in Las Cruces. There will be music and vendors in downtown Las Cruces for the event and eventgoers will get to see if it’s a red or green chile that drops.
