Economic Development Award: Chamber Receives Award From New Mexico Gas Company Supporting Advocacy Work for Bold Issues Groups

At the Chamber’s Education Reform Bold Issues Group event this week, New Mexico Gas Company Manager of Economic Development and Community Affairs Mary Homan presented Chamber President and CEO Terri Cole and Board Chair Mike Canfield with a $10,000 economic development award. The award will support the work of the Chamber’s Bold Issues Groups, which take on long-term challenges in areas that can broadly improve the quality of life in Albuquerque, including Public Safety, Downtown Transformation, and Education Reform.

Economic Development Award

The award is part of a $5 million Economic Development Fund that the New Mexico Gas Company and its parent company Emera, Inc. developed to invest in and support New Mexico communities and contribute to economic growth. “We are so thankful for this economic development award from NMGC,” said Ms. Cole. “The Chamber’s work in these areas is making Albuquerque a safe and prosperous place to start a business and raise a family, and it’s so important to have this kind of support from one of the key members of our business community.”
